Vassal Instagram / Bandcamp Heavy/Power metal band from Durham, NC Crimson Steel Instagram / Spotify Crimson Steel is a North Carolina-based traditional/US power metal band. "Show No Fear" is being released on Heaven and Hell Records on October 2nd. Aitalla Website / Instagram The music of AITTALA (pronounced 'EYE-tah-la') crosses many metal genres; it’s hard to put it into just one category. The sound infuses elements of classic heavy metal, doom, progressive, power, thrash and hard rock with lyrics drawing inspiration from the darker side of the human condition. The AITTALA sound has been cited for being unique which is no easy feat in the metal genre. The first version of AITTALA was formed in 1991 while Eric was living in Holland. With fellow American Tim on vocals and Dutch bandmates Ed (drums) and Jon (bass), the band became a staple of the Dutch metal scene. With the release of the 3-song EP 'Selling Heaven' in summer of 1993, AITTALA opened for such bands as THE GATHERING and SADIST.Unfortunately, as the demo started to create a buzz in the underground European metal scene, Eric had to return to the US and disbanded AITTALA. In 2008, the time was right to resurrect AITTALA.In total, AITTALA released 6 full-length albums and 3 EPs: 'Selling Heaven' EP (1993), 'Bed of Thorns' (2009), 'Haunt Your Flesh' (2011), 'Effigy' (2014), 'American Nightmare' (2016), 'False Pretenses' (2019),'Live to Regret (2022), 'Machines' (2025) and 'Ill-Gotten Gains' (2025).Each release showcasing a natural progression of songwriting and lyrical content but retaining the core AITTALA sound and evolving it.The current lineup of AITTALA consists of Eric Aittala on guitars/vocals and Gary 'Zeus' Smith (THE FIFTH, ex-MR BLACKWELL) on drums and Dane Taylor (EVIL I, ex-MOTORBILLY) on bass. They continue to write, record and tour to bring AITTALA to the masses.

Not really sure… candiland candiland is a 5-piece indie rock / dream pop band based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Drawing from the dreamy textures of My Bloody Valentine and Cocteau Twins alongside the songwriting of Wednesday and Big Thief, their sound blends shoegaze, alternative rock, and indie folk into something immersive and emotionally direct. Fronted by singer and primary lyricist Lily Mars, the band moves between intimate, reflective moments and louder, more cathartic passages. Guitarists Ace McAteer and Gabe Harmon build colorful, dreamlike atmospheres through layered tones and interplay, while Asher de la Torre (bass) and Ayden Taylor (drums) provide a steady, driving foundation. The members come from across the Triangle but consider Chapel Hill home, where they’ve been steadily building a presence through live performances and a growing catalog of original music. Lilac Drive Lilac Drive is a band that creates vibrant yet moody dream pop with rock elements based in the Traingle area of NC.
Shearling Bandcamp Serving as a spiritual continuation of the now-defunct Sprain, Shearling exhibits the reunion of a now decade-old collaborative force between guitarists Alexander Kent and Sylvie Simmmons. A subsequent recruiting of percussionist Andrew Chanover, bassist Wesley Nelson, and Keyboardist Elizabeth Carver filled out their orchestrally-minded roster. The band was mostly quiet for its first year of existence, avoiding live performances to instead focus on their brazen debut ‘Motherfucker, I am Both: “Amen” and "Hallelujah"…’ The record retains Sprain’s characteristic commitment to intensity, further mutated through a newfound lens of collagist approach. Featuring only a single, hour-plus long song, Motherfucker is a demanding exhibition of uncompromising ethos. Shearling’s aggressive live performances and meticulous recordings demonstrate an ambition, audacity, and emotional vulnerability that few contemporary bands can parallel. "Shearling present a work that could grow to be one of the great cult albums of alternative music." - Beats Per Minute "Calling Motherfucker both a wildly bold and ambitious debut would still be an understatement" - New Noise Magazine

Matt Heckler Website / Bandcamp / Instagram MATT HECKLER is a solo multi-instrumentalist that barely fits into any ordinary musical category. He tends to keep to the darker side of Appalachian mountain music and early bluegrass but listen long enough and you’ll soon be transported to the mountains of Eastern Europe or a dimly lit bar in Ireland where they honor those who have passed with a gently swaying a cappella ballad. After touring almost nonstop for years in support of bands like Devil Makes Three, Lost Dog Street Band, Flogging Molly, and others, HECKLER, like the rest of us, got sidelined by the ongoing global pandemic. With the newfound time off, he set to pushing creative boundaries in his home recording studio as far as his mind would allow. Each fiddle, banjo, and guitar track carefully put in place all the while retaining the grit and energy reflected in his live shows. Paired perfectly as the sequel to After The Flood, the Blood, Water, Coal album is a defining release in his career. Blood, Water, Coal was performed and recorded by MATT HECKLER with upright bass and backing vocals provided by Jeff Loops (Lost Dog Street Band). While recording Blood, Water, Coal, MATT HECKLER released The Magnolia Sessions outdoor live set – the maiden release for the now popular series – which made it to #9 on the Bluegrass Billboard Charts. The Magnolia Sessions was still charting upon the release of Blood, Water, Coal, which debuted at #3, leaving HECKLER with two albums running on the Billboard Charts simultaneously. With the release of his last album, "This Town Is Killin Me", HECKLER signed off on his fourth album with a national tour. Fans filled the venues for a rowdy solo act, and he held true to the grit of his live shows reputation. Moving forward, HECKLER has a new album in the works, which he says is his best yet. Keep your ears peeled for future recordings, videos and performances near you. Julian Sikes Bandcamp

Wielding their distinctive homemade instruments - a melding of hardware store and landfill – Play Some Music features microtonal and macrotonal wire-framed steel guitars as well as amplified drums, amplified circular saw blade percussion, electronics, and feedback organ to produce a suite of songs, improvised and composed, that explore classical mythology and the nebulous realm of memory.
Dinner Time Instagram / Bandcamp Dinner Time was founded in Atlanta, GA in 2018 as a collaborative project, focused on bringing together songwriters from several existing groups. Influenced by garage rock, saccharine 60s melodies, and a DIY mentality, the group released their debut album DINNER TIME in 2019. The group continued to redefine their sound on subsequent LPs Halfway Down (2021) and Technicolor (2024), adding moody synthesizers, more psychedelic production techniques, and leaning into jazzier changes. The quintet has spent the years in between touring the country, appearing at Treefort Music festival, SXSW, and even collaborating with the Atlanta Braves. Now the band has come full circle, and is ready to share DINNER TIME 2. This album represents a return to form, back to the familiar influences of their debut, now with years of experience under their belts. Layers of acoustic guitars and mellow pianos evoke the sounds of the 70s, while catchy melodies and soaring guitar harmonies hint at the band’s varied influences (which include the Zombies, the Beatles, the Doobie Brothers, Randy Newman, CSNY, and Masayoshi Takanaka). Produced in collaboration with Clark Hamilton (Klark Sound, Improvement Movement), DINNER TIME 2 will be released on May 8, 2026 via Dinner Time Records.

Over the years, the band has seen many things come andgo, but they have stuck to their original ideals.
Born Without Bones Website / Instagram / Bandcamp / Born Without Bones has always been a band that didn’t quite fit in. While rooted in the Massachusetts DIY punk scene, they've always pulled from a wide range of influences. Traces of big guitars and even bigger hooks of ‘90s alternative mixed with the storytelling and subdued tones of heartland singer-songwriters, culminate in a sound that is distinctly their own. Born Without Bones' emphasis on crafting pop hooks sets them apart from most of their punk scene peers. The band has released four full lengths, Say Hello (2010), Baby (2013), Young At The Bend (2017) and Dancer (2022). The band formed in 2010 as a solo project by singer and guitarist Scott Ayotte. After the release of their debut LP “Say Hello,” The band self released their sophomore record, “Baby” in 2013 and began touring the country in earnest. After a few years on the road the band released their third record, “Young At The Bend” on their own imprint, Devil You Know Records. In 2021, they signed to Pure Noise Records and simultaneously released the “Pictures Of The Sun EP”, a collection of re-recorded and reimagined favorites from the band’s catalog like “Baby” and “Falling Asleep.” Their fourth full length album, “Dancer” was released the following year. The film is loosely based on a narrative inspired by the songs. Third of Never's lead singer Doug MacMillan (also known for his work with the Connells) and guitarist Jon Dawson star in the Brent Clark film. The band is rounded out by founding member Jode Haskins (lead bass), Charles Cleaver (keyboards), and drummer Brandon Ruth. Also appearing on the album are Who/Pete Townshend keyboardist John 'Rabbit' Bundrick, Steve Potak (Connells), and Sara Bell (Lud). On June 6th the band's set will focus on material from Damage The Pearl, along with material from their previous four albums and the debut of two new songs. For music, video, and band interviews, visit www.343Collective.com. Erie Choir Website / Bandcamp “Erie Choir is almost an anagram of my name,” Eric Roehrig explains with a slight chuckle. “The album titles are all anagrams—the first one is called Slighter Awake, which, taken altogether, says ‘Eric Roehrig takes a while.’” It’s been eight years since Old Rigs, Erie Choir’s second album, which arrived nine years after the band’s 2006 debut. Roehrig characterizes himself as “easily distracted,” but “patient” is a better descriptor for his songs and their lengthy gestation periods. The gorgeous arrangements, the earwormy melodies, the layers of sly humor and poignant observation in the lyrics—all of this comes from Roehrig’s unwillingness to rush, to let the songs appear and dictate their direction. The Carrboro, NC-based songwriter came up in the Chapel Hill indie rock scene, splitting lead duties in Sorry About Dresden with the late Matt Oberst. Roehrig first started Erie Choir in the early 2000s as a channel for his acoustic folk musings that didn’t quite fit with his main band, but over the past 20 years, it’s morphed into a full-throated, muscular rock and roll outfit. What began as a quiet solo project gradually accrued trusted collaborators, slowly solidifying into the longstanding lineup of today: Roehrig, fellow Sorry About Dresden alumnus James Hepler, Bob Wall, Jack Watson, and Ben Spiker. Scivic Rivers Website / Bandcamp Scivic Rivers is the musical nom de plume of American singer-songwriter Randy Bickford; the new self-titled album is his seventh LP. Bickford's songs have earned him wide recognition from fellow lifer musicians and critics alike. Pitchfork described his writing as "tracing a single thought or sketching a single image throughout the course of several bars, building suspense and making you wait patiently for the pay-off". Scivic Rivers represents the next epoch of Bickford’s work. In retrospect, it makes sense: he released his initial output as the Strugglers, often emergent and spare as the bones of his songwriting hardened. In time, he found himself upright and walking in his craft, releasing a pair of albums under his own name, Brice Randall Bickford, still personal but now breathing with life and rich arrangements. But all walking is controlled falling, and the coming years would invite and even require a new horizon.
